Lindyhop L0 (Absolute beginners) |
All new-comers/absolute beginners to Lindyhop will go through this level. |
| Lindyhop L1 |
All students who have completed L0 or its equivalent will move into either L1 or L2 depending on the time of the year |

Lindyhop L2 |
This is for students who have followed classes regularly in L1 and been advised to move to L2 |
| Lindyhop L3 |
Students are expected to have completed L1 & L2 or its equivalent and have a minimum of 6 months of regular social dancing experience to join this class. Please consult one of the teachers if you wish to join this class. |
Lindyhop Intro L0 (Absolute beginners):
This class is meant for newcomers in the swing scene. You have seen lindyhop but never danced it before. But you know you wanna learn it ! Well this is the class for you. Here you will learn
• What is swing jazz
• Basics of lindyhop
• Getting the pulse in your body to the rhythm in the music
• How to connect with your partner
• What’s this thing called frame that everyone talks about
• Body lead Vs Arm lead – Which side of the force are you on?
• Crazy and funky lindy moves that will inspire you and get you confident enough to hit the dance floor after just a few classes
Lindyhop One L1:
This class is meant for those students who have completed L0 at SwingStreet or its equivalent. The main goal behind this class is to build on technique and the concepts that goes behind some of the fundamental and defining moves of lindyhop. Here you will learn
• What is counter balance and learn to trust your partner
• How to dance relaxed and use just the right amount of tension while dancing
• How to keep that momentum going and get that smooth dynamic lindy styling in your dance
• The do’s and don’ts of a good lindyhopper
• More new moves and variations built on what you already know
Lindyhop Two L2:
This class is meant for those students who have followed L1 classes regularly and have been advised to move into this level. In this class you will learn
• What is counter balance

• The do’s and don’ts of a good lindyhopper
• More new moves and variations built on what you already know
Lindyhop Three L3:
This class is meant for those students who have completed L0, L1 and L2 at swing street or have done atleast 6 months of regular and frequent lindyhopping at classes or parties. You should have a good understanding of all the basic concepts of lindyhop and should be comfortable with moves such as swing-outs, lindy turns, lindy circles, Charleston (side & tandem), texas tommy and should be able to lead/follow them socially on any dance floor.
New students/students from outside SwingStreet will need to discuss with the SwingStreet instructors beforehand to understand if they meet the necessary entry criteria for joining this class. Here you will learn
• More about dancing to the music rather than counting numbers
• Rhythm syncopation
• Musicality
• Tension management and body awareness
• To dance to faster and slower tempos
• Improvising and coming up with new moves by playing around with what you already know and have
